Among the most quoted verses in the bible is the introduction to the Sermon on the Mount of Olives regarding end times prophecy (Matthew 24; Mark 13; Luke 21).
“And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” (Matthew 24:3)
The Lord replied by giving his disciples a stark warning which has echoed throughout the generations. “Take heed that no man deceive you” (Matthew 24:4).
In every way imaginable, Satan has sought to deceive mankind into believing that which is not true. With fake science (1 Timothy 6:20), he introduced a creation where the God of creation is not relevant – the big bang and evolution. With many religions, he has introduced the concept that there are multiple ways to “heaven”. And by using the name of Christ and Christianity, he has deceived a great multitude into seeking a false Christ. Hence, there exists a multitude of “Christian” doctrines deceiving the masses.
Every measure of sin dating from creation to this very day is the product of Satan who is intent on perverting the word of God (2 Corinthians 11:13- 15; Galatians 1:8-9), the Lord’s creation (2 Peter 3:1-7; John 1), and turning the heart of man and angel away from their creator (Genesis 3; Job 1:11-13; Revelation 12).
The original rebel, Satan, is able to accomplish this task by employing his dark art of deception.
“Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:7-8; emphasis miine)
This sin which is “from the beginning” (Genesis 3:4-5) is first, rebellion (denying the will of the Father), and then deception (causing others to deny the will of the Father and believe a lie).
One of the greatest deceptions Satan has wrought in this creation is attributed to mankind being his own judge. But we are not our own judge. If we seek to judge a person by mankind’s standards, we are denying the testimony of Jesus Christ.
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation”. (John 5:25-30).
Mankind seeks to judge others in accordance with the laws created by man. But Christ and his saints (which were killed for their faith; Revelation 20) will judge the heart of mankind which is hidden. For all things hidden will be brought to light (Luke 12:2-3).
“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts”. (Proverbs 21:2).
Mankind believing that we can judge what is right and wrong for ourselves (knowledge of good and evil) is the very circumstance which led to the fall (original sin) and banishment from Eden (Genesis 2:22-24).
Casting judgement is exactly what is taking place in the nations of the world today. Every nation on earth creates laws and statutes unto themselves believing they have the right to execute judgment in the land they were given. They are judging their brothers and sisters based on their own understanding, instead of relying on God for His.
Modern men and women from all walks of life do whatsoever they please, giving no thought to the nature of original sin. Mankind’s own evil thoughts and actions have become just in their own eyes, permitting anything they desire as “right” for themselves. Mankind practices greed, blasphemies, idolatries, fornication of all manners, and hatred for our fellow man. Not to mention deception – all in the name of claiming what is right and wrong for one’s self.
